Lorenz specializes in Structural Integration via Rolfing. He has worked in health, fitness, and wellness since 1994 as a Personal Trainer and a Massage Therapist. He obtained his Rolfing Certification in 2001 and his Advanced Certification in Rolfing in 2008.

He continually studies and explores the specialization of integrative approaches to musculoskeletal function and structural balance. Today his practice focuses on individuals who have conditions that are unresolved by mainstream therapies. Along with his formal education, his more than 20 years of experience with clients gives him a great intuition in diagnosing structural integration issues. He is a valued resource in the Somatic community by advancing the integration of movement and manual therapy disciplines, the two components of Structural Integration.

Lorenz was educated and trained at the Rolf Institute in Boulder, Colorado where he completed both his basic training and his Advanced Training as a Rolf Practitioner. He has also obtained certifications as a Personal Trainer, Pilates and Yoga Instructor, and he has a degree in Psychology from University of Santa Cruz. He is a past student of the Upledger Institute for their visceral and cranial programs, and a past student of Lowen Systems for their integrative manual therapy classes. Lorenz is currently a student with the Chikly Health Institute enrolled in their lymph, brain and heart programs.

Education in practice

Lorenz’s educational background is a B.A. in Psychology, many movement and manual therapy disciplines; Rolfing, Visceral Manipulation, Cranial Sacral, Yoga, Pilates, Martial Arts, Tango and a few others. He uses his education in each session to nimbly move to the individual needs of each client. In order to continually grow in his work and to better help his clients, he has created links between various approaches and ways of thinking. He works with you as you are that day; watch your body, listen to your words, and feel your energy in order to create the appropriate goals for the session and to create a very positive outcome for each session.

His type of work is known as “Structural Integration” (SI), which is one branch within the field of Somatic Therapy. SI uses both bodywork (manual therapies), and movement education (movement therapies / movement integration) to address the alignment and functions of the body and the body’s systems. The goals and result of S.I. vary – from fitness to esthetics, to the elimination of pain and dysfunction while re-educating the body.

His approach to S.I. also focuses on personal development (a common theme in Somatic Therapies). He believes that an individual’s relationship with his or her body – his or her alignment, the way one moves through space, what functions and what doesn’t is strongly related to an individual’s psychological and interpersonal experience and health. The goal of his work with each person is to help them reach a space where they can accept and utilize the work of Structural Integration to support their life activities. With personal development as the focus it is possible to move beyond what either he or the individual ever imagined possible.
